It’s locate in down town, in Jendral Basuki Rakhmad Street No. 5. This shop that established since 1930 is offer a different atmosphere comparing any other shop. The first impression when we enter it is bring us to colonial ambience. The banner of Welkom In Malang, Toko “Oen” Die Sinds 1930 Aan De Gasten Gezelligheid Geeft welcome us when we just enter it. Furniture and any other equipments in the shop are very ancient where they increase to create a colonialsme situation. The chairs what prepared to guests are made from rattan. We just live in a past time.
Actually, The Oen Shop isn’t only in Malang, but it’s also found in Semarang. The different is the black and white pictures of Malang’s landmark decorate almost in every wall. They descript Malang City in the old age and make attractiveness the Oen ambience. The waiter wear the black and white clothes and using songkok – headdressworn by Muslim men and also by Indonesian in general as a symbol of national identity. They seem like the servant in Nederland colonial age who serve the landlord.The most popular menu on it is an ice cream what have many kind of variant. Beside that, this shop also serve Indonesian foods, European foods and Chinese foods. Before we order the main menus, we can order a soft drink to accompany us during enjoying this peacefull ambience. The extreme atmosphere really felt comparing the street ahead the shop what almost crowded in every time.This shop is also become tourist center who visit Malang to get around Malang tourism information and any other places in East Java. Meanwhile, some tourists make it into a nostalgia place to commemorate their forefather who ever live in Indonesia, Malang in particular. Some other make this shop as hang out place after they doing the fatiguing activities all days with getting some rest in this peacefull place. So, what do you waiting for ?
